Lykke Li- Youth Novels (2008)

Published by at 4:31 pm under MP3's

Youth Novels is the debut LP from 22-year old Swedish sensation Lykke Li. Produced by Björn Yttling of Peter Björn and John fame, Youth Novels is full of indie pop gems that blend the intimate folk of female singer songwriters Feist with choral, orchestral and electronic elements. No doubt Lykke Li owes some of her sound, especially her high-pitched croon, to Björk but her style is a unique mix. Youth Novels is one of the year’s most fun albums, if not one of the best. She’s currently on tour with Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson so check out the tracks I put up and check her out on tour!

now i don’t want to brag or anything (being swedish and all), but it seems to me that we do have an awful lot of good music coming out of our little country. there’s The Perishers, Anna Ternheim, Billie the Vision and the Dancers, Jose Gonzales, Salem Al Fakir (the list goes on and on) and now this little sweetheart. i think i may have to give myself a pat on the back out of sheer patriotism.

Despite being from the states, I must agree with you there! And don’t forget Jens Lekman!

What else up from there? Those Dancing Days, pretty girlsband with quite catchy single Run Run or really pleasant Hitten. But album is nothing special.

BTW, since when Bjork is swedish..?

haha i’m sure you do ^^ i’m just making fun of you

seriously though, half the people i talk to here confuse the two.
however, the DJs at my school seem to have embraced a small part of swedish music culture, although not really the part i would have liked. they play basshunter around three days a week and i just wish they would play something like lykke li instead.
